Ben contributed to the hackclub/high-seas repository by addressing a targeted user interface issue, focusing on the sound button’s stacking order. Using CSS and JavaScript, Ben increased the z-index of the sound control to ensure it remained visible above other page elements, thereby preventing visual overlap and reducing the risk of user mis-clicks. The solution was implemented as a low-risk, isolated fix and underwent cross-browser quality assurance to validate its effectiveness. While the scope of work was limited to a single bug fix, Ben’s attention to detail improved the reliability of the frontend experience and reduced potential user confusion on the site.
