During January 2025, Ben Flessner contributed to the HL7/fhir repository by delivering two features and resolving one bug, focusing on backend development and data modeling in Java. He updated the CMP-2 component’s metadata to improve documentation clarity and enabled CareTeam references as valid authors in Composition resources, enhancing authorship representation in healthcare data. Additionally, Ben aligned the section.author definition with FHIR specifications, ensuring consistent author representation across the data model. His work demonstrated a strong understanding of FHIR and healthcare standards, addressing both technical accuracy and interoperability requirements within the project’s backend architecture over the course of the month.
