In December 2025, Berik Visschers developed and integrated a new board definition for the Seeed Xiao ESP32-C6 within the esphome/esphome repository. Leveraging expertise in embedded systems and microcontroller programming, Berik mapped all relevant pins and ensured the board could be used immediately by developers building ESP32-C6 projects. The work, implemented in Python, included thorough documentation and validation to streamline device onboarding and configuration. By expanding hardware compatibility, Berik’s contribution reduced setup time for new devices and broadened the esphome ecosystem. The depth of the integration demonstrated careful attention to usability and readiness for adoption by the community.
December 2025 focused on expanding hardware compatibility in esphome/esphome by delivering a new Seeed Xiao ESP32-C6 board definition. This work enables out-of-the-box support for the Seeed Xiao ESP32-C6, improving device onboarding, setup speed, and ecosystem reach. The change is ready for immediate use by users building ESP32-C6 projects and reduces time-to-value for new hardware integrations.
