During November 2024, Berzan Mikaili developed the Snowpipe Encryption Master Key Rotation feature for the snowflakedb/snowflake-ingest-java repository. This work introduced a new EncryptionKey class and updated core components such as BlobBuilder and FlushService to support robust encryption key management. By enabling RegisterBlobResponse to include encryption keys, Berzan allowed client-side data encryption before upload, addressing security and compliance requirements for data in motion and at rest. The implementation, primarily in Java, focused on integrating encryption and key management into the Snowpipe streaming ingestion pipeline, demonstrating depth in secure data engineering and a clear understanding of streaming and encryption technologies.
