During January 2025, Betalb developed VirtioSCSI storage controller support for the VirtualBox provider in the hashicorp/vagrant repository, expanding storage configuration options for users. By leveraging Ruby and applying expertise in provider configuration and virtualization, Betalb integrated VirtioSCSI as a selectable storage controller, enabling broader compatibility with modern storage solutions. Additionally, Betalb refined error messaging to clearly enumerate supported storage types, reducing user confusion during provider selection and improving overall usability. The work focused on enhancing the provider’s flexibility and user guidance, laying groundwork for future VirtioSCSI adoption across other providers.
