During September 2025, Brian Murphy focused on front end development for the arXiv/arxiv-browse repository, delivering a consolidated maintenance messaging system to improve user communication during planned database maintenance. He implemented HTML-based banners with configurable start and end dates, enabling precise control over banner visibility and reducing the risk of outdated information. By disabling an obsolete opt-in banner, Brian streamlined user messaging and minimized confusion. His work included refining end-date logic and preparing a dedicated banner for an upcoming MySQL upgrade. The project demonstrated a methodical approach to lifecycle management, enhancing user guidance and aligning communications with scheduled maintenance activities.
