During May 2025, Doebel enhanced network configuration in the google/syzkaller repository, focusing on improving EC2 root filesystem compatibility with a broader range of network interfaces. By removing a restrictive driver-match clause, Doebel enabled support for additional NIC types such as virtio-net, addressing limitations in previous configurations. The work also ensured DHCP was consistently enabled across all interfaces during fuzzing by explicitly matching each interface, which improved reliability and reduced manual adjustments. Utilizing shell scripting and system administration skills, Doebel delivered a targeted feature that deepened test coverage and streamlined network behavior for fuzzing scenarios in cloud-based environments.
