During May 2025, Doebel enhanced network configuration in the google/syzkaller repository, focusing on improving EC2 root filesystem compatibility with a broader range of network interfaces. By removing a restrictive driver-match clause in the shell-based configuration scripts, Doebel enabled support for additional NIC types such as virtio-net. The work also ensured DHCP was consistently enabled across all interfaces during fuzzing, which improved network reliability and reduced the need for manual adjustments. Leveraging skills in networking, system administration, and shell scripting, Doebel delivered a targeted feature that increased test coverage and robustness for fuzzing workflows in EC2 environments.
