During November 2024, Bkhizgiy worked on the kubev2v/forklift repository to enhance observability and monitoring for migration workflows. They implemented a Prometheus recording rule, using YAML and Jinja, to collect detailed migration telemetry, enabling data-driven insights and faster issue detection. Their approach included defining a reusable template for migration status metrics and provisioning RBAC scaffolding to ensure secure, least-privilege access to PrometheusRules. By focusing on Kubernetes-native monitoring and access control, Bkhizgiy’s work provided a foundation for more reliable and transparent migration processes. The depth of the solution addressed both data collection and security requirements for production environments.
