Worked on the herbie-fp/herbie repository to enhance the reliability of the Egglog installation workflow by introducing a reproducible process using Makefile and Rust’s Cargo tooling. Developed and integrated a --locked option into the Makefile-driven installation, ensuring that Cargo.lock is enforced and exact dependency versions are installed. This approach reduced version drift and improved determinism across different environments, including CI pipelines. The work focused on build system management, leveraging Makefile scripting and Rust ecosystem knowledge to support stable deployments. The changes enabled more predictable and traceable installations, contributing to a robust and scalable build process for the project.
