Worked on a focused observability refactor within the livekit/protocol repository, targeting improved consistency and maintainability in backend systems. The effort centered on standardizing observability package names and removing deprecated telephony observability interfaces, which reduced technical debt and streamlined the codebase. By aligning observability components with the current telemetry strategy, the changes simplified future instrumentation and monitoring efforts. The work was implemented using Go, leveraging backend development skills to ensure the codebase remains clean and easier to maintain. This refactor enables more straightforward integration of new telemetry capabilities, supporting ongoing improvements in system monitoring and operational visibility for the project.
