During September 2025, Brian Tracey enhanced the google-deepmind/torax repository by developing granular energy output metrics for plasma physics simulations. He introduced new variables such as E_aux_total, E_ohmic_e, and E_external_injected, replacing the previous E_aux to improve the accuracy of energy attribution. This work involved refactoring Python code to correct misleading variable names and ensure precise tracking of energy contributions within the simulation. Leveraging his expertise in data analysis and scientific computing, Brian’s changes enabled more reliable analytics and dashboards, supporting better decision-making for optimization efforts and providing clearer, more trustworthy KPI reporting for the project’s stakeholders.
