Worked on enhancing editor group management in the microsoft/vscode repository, focusing on improving organization and usability for multi-editor workflows. Developed a feature in TypeScript that allows users to create a new editor group when moving an editor into a previous group, while implementing safeguards to prevent leaving the source group empty unless it contains at least two editors. Ensured the new group’s placement aligns with the user’s side-by-side orientation preferences by respecting the workbench.editor.openSideBySideDirection setting. Collaborated with other contributors to maintain consistency with existing editor layout behaviors, emphasizing code quality and maintainability in front end development and editor management.
