Rui Cao developed IPv6 delegated IPAM support for the derailed/cilium repository, focusing on enhancing the system’s ability to manage and route IPv6 traffic. By refactoring routing information and allocation result structures, Rui ensured consistent handling of both IPv4 and IPv6 within the IPAM pipeline. This work addressed the need for modern networking compatibility and enabled end-to-end IPv6 traffic management. The implementation leveraged Go and system programming skills, with a strong emphasis on networking concepts such as CNI and IPAM. Rui’s contribution demonstrated depth in adapting complex infrastructure to evolving standards, resulting in maintainable and forward-compatible code for the project.

December 2024: Delivered IPv6 delegated IPAM support in derailed/cilium, including refactoring routing information and allocation result structures to accommodate IPv4 and IPv6. This enables effective IPv6 traffic management and aligns our IPAM with IPv6 readiness goals. All changes traceable to commit c90aed4c6479daf5df0aada14860af91f1b05b3f ("Support IPv6 for delegated IPAM").
