During June 2025, Ariel Celermájer focused on modernizing the build infrastructure for the openucx/ucx repository by implementing Universal Build System support. He achieved this by packaging the ucx.spec file directly into the project tarball and updating key packaging metadata, including AUTHORS and Makefile.am, to reference the new spec. This work, primarily using Makefile and build system expertise, standardized the build process across platforms and improved automation in continuous integration workflows. Although no bugs were addressed during this period, Ariel’s contribution streamlined cross-platform releases and reduced friction for new targets, reflecting a targeted and in-depth approach to build system alignment.
