During March 2026, Walilko developed a new shuffle service and enqueue functionality for the Jellyfin media player integration within the home-assistant/core repository. This work expanded playback options, allowing users to shuffle and queue media directly from Home Assistant, thereby improving flexibility and user control. Walilko’s approach centered on Python-based backend development, leveraging API integration and service-oriented design patterns to ensure seamless interaction between Jellyfin and Home Assistant. The implementation emphasized collaborative coding practices and thorough testing. While the contribution was focused on a single feature, it addressed a clear user need and demonstrated depth in service development and integration skills.
