Chaitra Dalawai enhanced Debezium’s data streaming reliability by implementing timezone-aware epoch time conversion in the debezium/debezium repository. Focusing on source data, Chaitra designed and integrated logic to accurately convert epoch timestamps across nanoseconds, microseconds, and milliseconds, addressing cross-region consistency challenges. The work involved updating schema definitions to support larger INT64 epoch values and expanding unit tests to validate input and output records under various time zone scenarios. Leveraging Java, schema design, and data transformation skills, Chaitra’s contributions improved the accuracy and robustness of timestamp handling in change data capture workflows, demonstrating depth in both implementation and validation.
Month 2025-11: Focused on enhancing epoch-time handling across time zones for Debezium's source data. Implemented timezone-aware conversion for Epoch timestamps across nanoseconds, microseconds, and milliseconds, with updates to tests and schema to support larger epoch values and validate input/output records.
