During February 2026, Chandru contributed to the zed-industries/extensions repository by designing and implementing a new Light Theme for the Zed Editor. Drawing inspiration from IntelliJ IDEA and Android Studio, Chandru focused on UI/UX design and front end development to deliver an accessibility-friendly, visually consistent light theme. The work involved integrating the theme seamlessly into the existing theming framework using TOML, ensuring maintainability and alignment with industry standards. Although no bugs were fixed during this period, the feature expanded customization options for users preferring lighter aesthetics, broadened the editor’s appeal, and laid groundwork for future enhancements in theme customization and user onboarding.
