Developed a feature extension for the wasmCloud/wasmCloud repository, enhancing the runtime-operator Helm chart to support declarative host-side configuration through optional hostGroups fields. Focused on enabling users to configure environment variables, volumes, volume mounts, and ports without modifying chart code, the work maintained backward compatibility by ensuring TLS-off deployments remained byte-identical to previous versions. The implementation, written in YAML and leveraging Kubernetes and Helm, introduced no new defaults or schema changes, preserving the existing chart surface area. Comprehensive verification steps were provided to reviewers, allowing local validation of the feature’s non-breaking nature and ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows.
