Worked on the vlang/v repository to enhance the reliability of JSON decoding in V by addressing a critical bug in the decode_number function. Focused on backend development and robust JSON handling, the work involved ensuring that decode_number properly initializes values to zero, preventing incorrect data decoding and reducing the risk of silent data corruption. Added targeted unit tests for both direct values and struct fields, strengthening regression safety and improving overall test coverage. Leveraged skills in V and testing to deliver a more stable decoding subsystem, contributing to safer data processing and a reduced bug surface within the codebase.
