During a two-month period, Chris Kim focused on improving document rendering reliability in the quarto-dev/quarto-cli repository by addressing two targeted bugs related to figure and subfigure captions. Leveraging skills in documentation and Typst rendering, Chris enhanced the consistency of caption output by ensuring captions were properly enclosed within block elements and by removing unnecessary numbering artifacts. These changes, implemented using Typst and Markdown, resulted in more readable and visually consistent documents for end users. The work contributed directly to the stability and release readiness of version 1.9, aligning technical improvements with the business goal of reliable documentation output.
