Clay Loveless developed a new Zed Dark Theme for the Zed application, focusing on enhancing visual aesthetics and user experience through a muted navy base with bright accents. Working within the zed-industries/extensions repository, Clay applied UI/UX design and front end development skills to create the dusty-theme extension, ensuring improved readability and consistent user interface elements. The project included preparing extension metadata, such as MIT licensing and schema versioning, using Git and TOML for version control and configuration. This work addressed the need for differentiated theming options and established a foundation for future scalability in the Zed app’s theming capabilities.
