In December 2025, Lay Sheth focused on backend development for the zed-industries/zed repository, addressing a persistent bug in the slash command file collection process. Using Rust, Lay fixed an issue where directory path displays became inaccurate when traversing folded directories, which previously led to user confusion and unpredictable automation workflows. The solution involved introducing logic to reset folding state and prevent incorrect path inheritance, with careful attention to cross-platform compatibility, including Windows-specific path handling. This work demonstrated a strong grasp of state management and incremental refactoring, resulting in more reliable file collection and improved developer experience for future slash-command enhancements.
