Developed features for tracking, restoring, and compacting stale series, enhancing data integrity and storage efficiency in the Prometheus TSDB. Addressed concurrency and reliability by fixing race conditions and improving test coverage, while also upgrading dependencies and tightening linting policies for maintainability. Leveraged Go and TypeScript to implement robust backend workflows, configuration management, and observability enhancements. Focused on test-driven development, lifecycle handling during WAL replay, and introducing configurable thresholds, resulting in more predictable query performance and streamlined developer experience across releases.

Upgraded core tooling (Go 1.26.0, golangci-lint v2.9.0) and tightened lint rules. Advanced Prometheus observability with a 3.10 rc0 upgrade, introduction of an OpenAPI spec, and targeted fixes for concurrency race conditions in Head.deleteSeriesByID, backed by unit tests and test adjustments. Result: more reliable releases, faster feedback loops, and stronger developer experience.

Implemented restoration of stale series counting during WAL replay and restored stale-series counting from chunk snapshots, stabilizing the overall stale data accounting across input pipelines and storage layers. These changes reduce the risk of miscounted stale data, improve reliability of alerts and dashboards, and support more predictable storage and retention policies.
