Worked on the mudler/LocalAI repository to enhance stability and compatibility across diverse hardware by addressing critical CPU instruction issues. Focused on resolving crashes caused by BMI2 instruction usage on AVX-only Intel CPUs, particularly targeting legacy architectures like Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge. Applied architecture-aware compiler flags within CMake and Makefile build systems to prevent problematic instructions on non-Darwin platforms, ensuring broader deployment and reducing runtime failures. Leveraged expertise in C++, CMake, and Docker to implement and merge targeted fixes, incorporating reviewer feedback to improve code maintainability and health. The work expanded CPU compatibility and reduced the crash surface for LocalAI.
