Cole Hart developed and integrated an alpha color palette with transparent black and white tokens into the gohypergiant/standard-toolkit design system, focusing on enhancing UI theming flexibility and color consistency. By leveraging CSS-in-JS and TypeScript, Cole mapped these alpha tokens into semantic color definitions, enabling safer and more adaptable color semantics across components. This token-based approach improved the speed of UI iteration and streamlined the process of updating color schemes in production environments. The work demonstrated a solid understanding of design systems and color tokenization, resulting in a more maintainable and scalable front-end architecture without introducing new bugs during the period.
