During July 2025, Donnerbart focused on enhancing the hivemq-edge repository by upgrading its Java runtime dependency. He implemented a targeted update to the eclipse-temurin build configuration, replacing the existing version with a newer SHA256 hash to improve security and enable compatibility with recent Java features. This work involved careful dependency management and build system configuration using Kotlin, ensuring the upgrade maintained build stability and traceability. By addressing the runtime environment, Donnerbart improved deployment reliability and security posture without introducing risk or instability. The scope was narrow but technically sound, reflecting a methodical approach to maintaining core infrastructure dependencies.
