Worked on the open-telemetry/opentelemetry-collector-contrib repository, focusing on backend development and metric validation within the Datadog receiver. Addressed a targeted bug by updating the stats translator to enforce OTLP compliance, specifically ensuring the dd.internal.stats.payload metric uses Cumulative AggregationTemporality. This change involved modifying Go code to set the correct temporality, aligning with OTLP rules and preventing downstream errors in metrics pipelines. All existing unit tests were validated to confirm the fix, resulting in improved data quality and reliability for Datadog-incoming metrics. The work leveraged Go and unit testing skills to enhance compatibility and support more accurate monitoring dashboards.
