Worked on the medusajs/medusa repository to implement Unicode-aware product handle generation, addressing issues with non-Latin script support. Developed a new toHandle function in TypeScript that preserves Unicode letters and numbers while removing invalid characters, ensuring spaces and underscores convert to hyphens and providing a fallback for empty results. Enhanced the isValidHandle logic to support multilingual scripts, including Arabic, Persian, and CJK, while maintaining backward compatibility with Latin handles. Added over ten language-specific unit tests to validate robustness and prevent regressions. This backend development improved reliability for global product creation and included comprehensive documentation and changeset preparation.
