Over three months, Cranzau contributed to the readtu/S25ISD2PM repository by establishing the CourseCompass Django project foundation and implementing a phased database migration from SQLite to PostgreSQL, with an interim MSSQL step. Cranzau’s work included configuring Django settings for multi-backend support, modernizing repository structure, and unifying the home page experience by reorganizing templates and static assets. Using Python, Django, and CSS, Cranzau addressed both backend and frontend needs, fixing CSS loading issues and removing obsolete files to streamline CI/CD. The approach emphasized clean source control, maintainability, and scalability, resulting in a robust, production-ready codebase with reduced maintenance overhead.

Month 2025-03 focused on delivering a scalable, multi-backend database strategy for the Django app in readtu/S25ISD2PM. The work established a phased migration path from SQLite to MSSQL and finally to PostgreSQL, with configuration changes to settings.py to support switching backends, and groundwork for production-grade PostgreSQL deployment. Included an interim MSSQL step and a placeholder commit that contained no functional changes, reflecting a cautious, incremental migration approach.
