During July 2025, Chris Ruffin focused on enhancing the stability of UEFI GOP workflows in the microsoft/mu_plus repository. He addressed a critical bug involving the uninstall and install order of the GOP and GopOverride protocols, which previously risked premature handle deallocation during protocol installation. By carefully adjusting the protocol uninstall sequence, Chris ensured handle validity and improved the reliability of UEFI initialization. His work involved low-level driver development and UEFI protocol management, utilizing C to implement and commit the fix. This targeted engineering effort reduced the risk of regressions and contributed to more robust protocol handling within the project.
