Worked on the OpenTelemetry Java instrumentation project, focusing on improving the correctness and stability of host resource identification. Addressed a bug in the HostIdResourceProvider by ensuring it instantiates the correct HostIdResource, rather than the generic HostResource, to align with intended host-identity semantics. This targeted fix enhanced the accuracy of host-related resource attribution across telemetry pipelines, reducing the risk of misclassification in production environments. Utilized Java for development and applied resource management expertise to refine the resource provider’s behavior. The work contributed to more reliable host identification and improved downstream processing within the open-telemetry/opentelemetry-java-instrumentation repository.
