The solution involved updating CSS selectors, including :hover, :focus-within, and [aria-expanded='true'], to ensure menu items display distinct visuals during hover, focus, and open submenu states. This approach maintained visual continuity by retaining [data-active] highlights within open submenus and updated ARIA menu documentation for consistent styling. The work emphasized front end development and CSS expertise, aligning the component with accessibility standards and reducing navigation friction for a more inclusive user experience.
