During March 2025, David Karlas enhanced the OvertureMaps/schema repository by expanding the division_boundary schema to support more precise geographic filtering and rendering. He introduced country and region metadata, making country a required property for most division boundaries, and updated both example and counterexample YAML data to reflect these changes. David applied his expertise in data modeling, schema definition, and documentation, using YAML to ensure the schema accurately captured geo-context requirements. By addressing PR feedback and aligning data samples with new validation rules, he delivered a well-integrated feature that improves geospatial accuracy and supports more granular location-based analytics and user experiences.
