During a one-month period, contributed two customer-facing features to the librenms/librenms repository, focusing on expanding device discovery and monitoring. Developed OneFS device identification by extending YAML-based definitions and augmenting SNMP test data, enabling accurate hardware and serial number inventory. Added support for EnLogic EN2.0 PDU discovery and monitoring by integrating new MIB files and updating discovery configurations, allowing the system to recognize and monitor additional PDU models. Leveraged SNMP, YAML, and MIB definition skills to deliver end-to-end solutions that improved asset inventory accuracy and broadened monitoring coverage, reducing manual discovery effort and supporting proactive network management.
Monthly summary for 2025-08 (librenms/librenms): Delivered two customer-facing features that expand device discovery and monitoring capabilities. OneFS device identification discovery extends hardware and serial number coverage by updating onefs.yaml and adding test data in snmprec, enabling reliable inventory and monitoring. EnLogic EN2.0 PDU discovery and monitoring adds support for EN2.0 PDUs through new MIBs and discovery configurations, including definitions for PDU parameters, status, and controls, and updates discovery files to recognize the new models. No major bugs were reported or tracked in this period. Impact and business value: Improved asset inventory accuracy for OneFS devices and broader PDU monitoring coverage for data centers, enabling faster issue detection and reduced manual discovery effort. These changes lay groundwork for proactive monitoring and more reliable reporting across the fleet. Technologies/skills demonstrated: SNMP-based device discovery, MIB integration, YAML-driven device definitions, test data augmentation (snmprec), and end-to-end feature delivery with traceable commits.
