Worked on expanding post-quantum TLS 1.3 capabilities in the qarmin/rustls repository, focusing on both security and maintainability. Developed a generalized hybrid key exchange mechanism and introduced standalone MLKEM768 support, enhancing the cryptographic strength and future-proofing of the protocol. Refactored the rustls-post-quantum crate to support these changes, creating new modules for hybrid and MLKEM implementations. Updated the bogo crate to handle the new key exchange types, improving interoperability and client compatibility. The work leveraged expertise in Rust programming, cryptography, and key exchange algorithms, resulting in a more modular and adaptable codebase for post-quantum TLS deployments.
October 2024 monthly summary for qarmin/rustls. Focused on expanding post-quantum TLS 1.3 capabilities, improving security posture, and enhancing maintainability through modular refactors. Key outcomes include a generalised hybrid key exchange for TLS 1.3 and standalone MLKEM768 support, along with targeted repository refactors and dependency updates to support future algorithm upgrades.
