During September 2025, contributed to the fluent/fluent-operator repository by implementing an observability enhancement focused on metrics exposure. Developed a new ServiceMonitor template within the Helm chart, updated the deployment to expose metrics, and configured default values in values.yaml. This work enabled Prometheus to scrape metrics from fluent-operator out-of-the-box, streamlining monitoring and alerting for Kubernetes environments. The changes were delivered using Helm and Kubernetes, with configuration managed in YAML. Documentation and default settings were updated to support straightforward adoption in new deployments. The contribution addressed a key operational need, improving reliability and incident response for users of fluent-operator.
