During March 2026, Smithra contributed front-end enhancements to the openfoodfacts-explorer repository, focusing on security, performance, and maintainability. They improved external footer link handling by adding rel='noopener noreferrer', mitigating potential security risks and reducing unnecessary browser wakeups. Smithra also refactored the Folksonomy and StaticPageIframe components, removing obsolete debugging code and ensuring event listeners were properly cleaned up on component unmount. This work addressed potential memory leaks and improved overall code stability. Utilizing Svelte and JavaScript, Smithra’s contributions demonstrated attention to detail in both user-facing features and underlying code quality, aligning with the project’s performance and reliability objectives.
