Dimuthu Upeksha developed core backend features for the apache/airavata repository, focusing on scalable file management, agent orchestration, and interactive notebook integration. Over three months, Dimuthu implemented a Spring Boot-based file server module in Java, enabling listing, uploading, and downloading of files with integrated metadata tracking. They enhanced agent reliability and workload balancing using gRPC and asynchronous programming, introducing tunnel management and meta-scheduling endpoints. Dimuthu also improved Jupyter notebook experiences by expanding MIME type support and rich output rendering in Python. The work demonstrated depth in distributed systems, robust API design, and operational observability, addressing workflow automation and data reproducibility.
