During December 2024, David McKay enhanced observability in the lsst/drp_tasks repository by improving logging for the coadd stacking process. He elevated a subregion log message in assemble_coadd.py from debug to info level, making the stacking of subregions more visible during pipeline execution. This non-functional change, implemented in Python, focused on logging best practices to support better monitoring and troubleshooting without altering the underlying coaddition algorithm. While no bugs were addressed during this period, the targeted update improved the reliability of pipeline diagnostics. The work demonstrated a focused application of Python and logging skills to support operational transparency.
