During March 2025, Donato addressed a critical integration issue in the gdsfactory/gdsfactory repository by resolving a bug that prevented the coupler_symmetric component from being properly imported across key submodules. He implemented a targeted Python code fix to ensure coupler_symmetric is accessible from both gdsfactory.components and gdsfactory.couplers, streamlining component availability for layout automation and design workflows. This work involved careful library management and code integration, focusing on Python packaging and module export practices.
