During June 2025, Dr. Teeth enhanced the firmware upload process for the nerves_hub_web repository by enabling support for product names containing spaces, a scenario that previously led to upload errors and customer friction. Leveraging Elixir and the Phoenix Framework, Dr. Teeth modified the multipart parser to correctly handle spaces and non-word characters in product names, thereby preventing 'request too large' errors during uploads. Comprehensive tests were implemented to validate the new upload flow across various scenarios, ensuring reliability and scalability. This focused backend development effort reduced support issues and improved onboarding for customers with more complex product naming conventions.
