Worked on the mermaid-js/mermaid repository to enhance the Quadrant Chart feature by improving support for non-ASCII labels, addressing the needs of a global user base. Focused on front end and parser development using JavaScript, the work involved updating the lexer to emit UNICODE_TEXT, enabling accurate handling of CJK characters, emojis, and Latin-1 accented labels. Added comprehensive tests to ensure compatibility across diverse label sets and narrowed the Unicode range for consistency with other chart grammars. The approach emphasized robust testing and clear documentation, resulting in more reliable parsing and improved internationalization for chart labels within the project.
