January 2026 monthly performance summary for redhat-developer/rhdh-plugin-export-overlays: Delivered a new Backstage AWS CodeBuild Plugin Integration enabling real-time build status, history, and project configuration visibility directly in the UI, strengthening CI/CD transparency and faster issue diagnosis. Implemented frontend and backend workspaces with plugin metadata and registered the plugin in the Extensions Catalog (Plugin entity) to support cross-team discovery and onboarding. Completed stability and compatibility fixes, including alignment of Backstage versions with upstream (1.43.1) while applying a 1.45.3 override for RHDH, a workspace glob patch (parity with aws-ecs), and corrections to repo-backstage-version in source.json/backstage.json. Established groundwork for integration tests and scalable CI/CD workflows, positioning the platform for more automated validation and deployment.

Month: 2025-10 — Developer portal enhancements and platform stabilization for redhat-developer/rhdh. Delivered four major items: (1) AWS ECS Plugin for Backstage Marketplace providing viewing/management of ECS resources with frontend/backend, real-time monitoring, and usage guidance, (2) Cursor Automation Rule for Dynamic Plugin Metadata to streamline RHDH Extensions Catalog workflows from prerequisites to PR validation and troubleshooting, (3) TODO Plugin for Backstage Marketplace for centralized tracking of TODO comments across repos, and (4) Backstage 1.42.5 compatibility updates for Dynatrace and IBM API Connect plugins to ensure stability with the latest Backstage release.

September 2025 performance snapshot focused on enabling a plugin-driven deployment model for AWS ECS within the rhdh-plugin-export-overlays project. Core delivery established foundational plugin architecture by adjusting workspace configuration and introducing a plugins-list.yaml to define backend and frontend plugins, laying the groundwork for extensible, plugin-based deployments.

May 2025: Implemented Buildah support for container image building in the CLI of janus-idp/backstage-plugins, enabling Buildah-based workflows. Key changes include introducing a --container-tool option, deprecating the --use-docker flag, and adding input validation to ensure valid container tool selections. This work reduces Docker daemon dependency, improves CI/CD flexibility, and enhances the CLI UX for container workflows.
