During July 2025, Milan consolidated code ownership in the gitpod-io/gitpod repository by aligning all CODEOWNERS entries under the Gitpod Enterprise team. This work involved removing legacy ownership from the team-engine and team-experience groups, streamlining the review process and clarifying accountability for future contributions. Milan’s approach focused on code ownership management using YAML, applying DevOps best practices to reduce cross-team dependencies and accelerate code reviews. The resulting ownership model supports scalable collaboration and simplifies onboarding for new contributors. While the work addressed a single feature, it demonstrated depth in repository governance and careful attention to maintainability within the codebase.
