In April 2025, Efren Casado enhanced the apache/pulsar repository by adding support for Kafka Connect transformations and predicates to the Pulsar Kafka Connect adaptor. He implemented dedicated initialization paths for both transforms and predicates, allowing source records to be processed with greater flexibility and configurability. Using Java and leveraging his expertise in data processing and Kafka Connect, Efren ensured that the new features were robust by developing comprehensive unit tests to validate their behavior. This work laid the foundation for more sophisticated data routing and processing pipelines, demonstrating a focused and in-depth approach to extending Pulsar IO capabilities.
