In July 2025, Em Searcy enhanced the openfga/helm-charts repository by implementing a feature that allows operators to enable or disable the OpenFGA subchart within Helm deployments. Using Helm and Kubernetes, Em introduced a toggle in the YAML configuration, aligning the chart’s dependency management with established practices for optional components like PostgreSQL and MySQL. This change reduced the risk of configuration errors and made it easier for operators to manage deployments in diverse environments. The work demonstrated a clear understanding of Helm chart packaging and release hygiene, resulting in a more flexible and maintainable deployment process for OpenFGA users.
