Developed and delivered Perl Registry Auto-Detection and .perl-version support for the jdx/mise repository, enhancing onboarding and environment reliability for Perl projects. The solution automatically detects Perl usage and reads version information from a .perl-version file, mirroring established patterns from Node.js to streamline project setup. Leveraging Perl, configuration management, and version control, the implementation enables dynamic switching and version pinning, validated through end-to-end testing. This approach reduces duplication in configuration files and aligns Perl workflows with idiomatic practices found in other runtimes. The work lays a foundation for broader tooling improvements while focusing on maintainability and per-project environment consistency.
