Worked on the Eventual-Inc/Daft repository to enhance the Iceberg writer by enabling support for custom data file locations through the write.data.path property. This involved updating the writer logic in Python to correctly interpret and apply user-specified paths, ensuring data files are placed according to table configuration. Developed an integration test, test_daft_custom_location, to validate the new behavior and updated the Docker Compose setup using YAML to ensure Minio’s health before starting dependent services, improving test reliability. Focused on cloud storage, distributed systems, and data engineering, the work emphasized robust testing and alignment with user-configurable storage requirements for Iceberg tables.
