Ethan Holz modernized the CI workflow runner management for the OpenFreeEnergy/openfe repository by updating the continuous integration pipelines to use dedicated AWS start and stop actions for both GPU and CPU runners. He replaced the previous gha-runner action with explicit lifecycle management, leveraging YAML and GitHub Actions to improve reliability and efficiency in cloud infrastructure operations. Ethan ensured that the core functionality of CI runner management remained compatible while enhancing the underlying workflow to support more stable and scalable pipelines. This work addressed operational ambiguity in runner lifecycle, resulting in a more maintainable and robust CI/CD process for the project.
