Etienne contributed to the apache/poi repository by developing XWPF Theme Public Access and Font Information Helpers, enhancing the accessibility of theme elements and enabling font information retrieval based on script type. Using Java and applying software development best practices, Etienne implemented null-safety in font retrieval methods to prevent runtime errors and expanded unit testing to validate the new functionality. The work included updating the API surface, refining class naming, and improving documentation through Javadoc. Although the contribution was focused on a single feature over one month, it demonstrated attention to robustness, maintainability, and test coverage within the Java codebase.
